"For who has despised the day of small things?..." - Zechariah 4:10

 

Greetings of love in the name of Jesus Christ, to the youth of today who are going to become the leaders of tomorrow. The teenage years are special for everyone. Every man who is in his old age never forgets his youth. Let us meditate today on the message from the Bible for such a special adolescent.

 

Paul writes, Be an example to the believers, so that no one despises you because of your youth. Whether others accept us or despise us, we must move forward through adolescence with firm faith in the Lord. One day in 1877, during a church service, a call was made for those who accepted Christ to come forward. As a young man named Rodney Smith walked forward, he overheard someone muttering mockingly that he was a vagabond. Rodney's parents were also illiterate nomads; No one thought much of this young man. But Rodney certainly knew that God had a purpose for him. He bought a Bible and an English dictionary and learned to read and write. "The way to Jesus is not at Cambridge or Harvard. It is at Calvary," he once said. Rodney became an evangelist against all odds. He became a famous minister of God who led many to Christ in America and Britain.

 

In today's scripture passage, "Who can despise the day after a small beginning?" We read as such. The dedication of a young man named Rodney Smith was underestimated. But his ministry was seen glorious. Similarly, God wants to bring many youths like Rodney to the youth camp that we are going to conduct this afternoon. Save them and do great things with them. There should be a spiritual beginning in the life of the youth who comes there. It may seem mundane and trivial. That will lead them straight to the glorious life. Pray earnestly for this camp. Pray that thousands of young people who live in free India and who are in various forms of slavery will change their slavery and imprisonment and rise up for the Lord with freedom and shine today in Trichy!
