The God Who Searches and Knows

 

"O LORD, thou hast searched me and known me" - Psalm 139:1

 

One day Jesus went to the temple and looked up and saw the rich putting their gifts into the treasury. A poor widow also put in her gift. She only had two mites, but she was praised for putting in more than all the others.

 

In the days of the apostles, Ananias and Sapphira sold a piece of property, kept back part of it for themselves, and laid the rest at the apostles’ feet. When Peter asked them if they had sold the land for that much, Sapphira lied and said, “Yes,” and they were punished. He knows what is in people, so he does not need anyone to testify about people. (John 2:24, 25

 

God knows our afflictions and our spiritual anguish. He knows the reproach and humiliation we experience. He knows our foolishness and weakness. He knows our words before we speak. Nothing escapes the sight of God, who examines and knows our hearts. Nothing is hidden from His eyes. The Lord knows everything. He knows all our thoughts and intentions, and not only that, but He also knows how faithful we have been and are in the responsibilities and duties given to us. No matter how much money or position we have, God only sees whether we love the Lord, rejoice in His relationship, and live for Him. God does not judge us based on how many years we have worked for the Lord or how many great things we have accomplished. Rather, He knows how faithfully we have fulfilled the responsibilities given to us.

 

God has great things and glorious rewards in store for the faithful. We may deceive our fellow men by living a hypocritical life. But God knows all things. "This knowledge of God is too wonderful for me, and too high for me" (139:6). My dear friends, may the Lord who searches us, knows our hearts, tests us, and knows our thoughts, remove the path that causes suffering from us and help us live as partakers of the eternal kingdom. Amen.
