To Be Pleasing to God..

 

"So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God" - Romans 8:8

 

There are two kinds of minds at work in every person. One can obey God and His words. The other is not able to obey God and cannot obey His words. The first mind is the mind of the Spirit, the second is the mind of the flesh. The mind of the flesh is enmity against God. Just as death and life, war and peace, obedience and disobedience are opposed to each other, so the mind of the Spirit and the mind of the flesh are opposed to each other. Those who live with the mind of the Spirit are those who please God. Those who have a fleshly mind cannot please God. The works of the flesh can be seen in the verses from Galatians 5:19-21.

 

If the Spirit of Christ dwells in us, we will not be people of the flesh, but spiritual-minded. The Bible says that anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to Him. (Romans 8:9)

 

In the Old Testament, Joseph, who lived in a foreign land, did not give way to sinful passions, but lived with the mind of the spirit that pleases God, saying, "How can I sin against God?" Daniel was determined not to be defiled by the king's food and wine. He refused to please King Darius to receive worldly honours. He was praised by the angel of God as a man beloved by God.

 

In this New Testament era, anyone who comes to Christ and receives the free gift of forgiveness and salvation can also receive a spiritual mindset that leads to eternal life and peace, making them pleasing to God. They are led to eternal life. As we meditate on the death of Jesus on the cross, let us examine ourselves and find out whether we are spiritually minded or worldly minded, and let us live in a way that pleases God completely.
