The Father is the Vinedresser

 

"I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser" - John 15:1

 

In a cold country, Dr. Vincent, a famous physician, visited a large greenhouse where plants were grown. The sight he saw there amazed him. Large clusters of grapes were hanging down, ready to be squeezed. The doctor asked the owner of the house how it happened. He said, "My new gardener had cut the vines down to the ground. For two years, not a single cluster of grapes was produced from these vines. But now they have produced a good harvest.

 

Jesus Christ said, "I am the vine, you are the branches. If anyone abides in me, and I in him, he will bear much fruit. Apart from me you can do nothing." A life lived in union with Jesus will produce much fruit. He disciplines and guides us, the vines, every day. That is, when discipline brings us pain and hardship, we should learn to believe that 'My Father is the vinedresser.' When we believe in such a way, no matter how many trials come, the God of all comfort, will comfort us. When He disciplines us, the vines, we should not get tired at all. He disciplines us so that we will bear much fruit.

 

Dear people of God, many painful events also occur in our daily lives. Even though it seems that Christ, the vinedresser, is cutting down our lives, our future is in the hands of the Lord. The sufferings that come to us in the world can cause damage and harm. But the trials that God allows in our spiritual life will bring us blessings. Yes, we will then be those who bear much fruit. The Bible says that Joseph is a fruitful vine. Yes, to live a fruitful life, he must be humble in the hands of God and depend on God in pain and trials! We will abide in God. We will bear much fruit. Amen.
