Run towards Jesus

“But it is good for me to draw near to God…” - Psalm 73:28

American swimmer Florence Chadwick wanted to set a record by swimming from Catalina Island in the Pacific Ocean to Southern California. The total distance is 34 km. It is a very dangerous area. Sharks roaming around, looking to devour someone, high waves, and fog that obscured vision made swimming in this area very difficult. However, Chadwick swam with great courage, regardless of anything. After swimming for several hours, her body began to freeze from the cold. Thinking that she could not swim anymore, she asked to be pulled out of the water. Only after being pulled out did she realize that she was so close to shore and that if she had swum a little further, she could have set a world record. She was also very sad that she had lost the opportunity to receive the title of 'Achievement Hero'.

Many people who have lived in the world have seemingly run their race well, but for some reason they have not finished it victoriously. Satan will often try to defeat us in our race of faith. In the Bible, it is written that even though Moses ran very well, he failed to enter the earthly Canaan, so Satan argued with the angels about the body of Moses, saying that he could not enter the heavenly Canaan (Jude 9). Similarly, Elijah also became bored with life and began to talk about giving up. Jonah also said that he wanted to die. Solomon also failed. Florence Chadwick said that even though the distance to reach the shore was short, it was very difficult for her to lose the opportunity to win.

Today, we too often do not read and meditate on the Bible, and are lacking in faith, do not finish the race of our lives, and are in the mindset of "Enough, Lord, enough." Whatever the situation, if we run towards Jesus without looking at ourselves or the situation, then surely no one can stop our race. That race will be successful. The apostles ran carefully. If we hold on to God and look only to Jesus, we can see Satan fall and we win. Our race will be victorious. Amen.
