For the Kingdom of Heaven...

 

“But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me…” - Acts 9:15

 

Amy Carmichael, the missionary, once met Thomas Walker who was ministering in Tirunelveli and began to serve alongside him. In the old days, there was a custom of selling baby girls to the temple. In some families, when there were illnesses, problems, or struggles, there was a custom of giving a baby girl to the temple as an offering. Those who were abandoned by their husbands or those who lost their husbands would take their baby girls to the temple and leave them there when they were unable to raise them. Ms. Amy performed such a great service of rescuing these baby girls from the temple, keeping them in her care, and providing them with good health. Then, on January 18, 1951, she joined the Kingdom of God while she was sleeping. Like Amy, let us also rise up to do something for the Lord and for His eternal Kingdom.

 

We know the apostle, Paul. The Bible scholars say that Paul was a very wealthy and highly educated person. He was even an antichrist! Jesus met him one day. Paul later declared that he counted all things loss for the sake of Christ. He said, “I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. On the very day Jesus met him, he dedicated himself to Christ. He led many to Christ.

 

Beloved in Christ! We do not need qualifications or abilities to do the work of the Kingdom of Heaven. The love of Jesus is enough to push us. Such love keeps pushing each of us every day. Amy Carmichael, who left her own country, and Paul, who gave up his position, worked for the Kingdom of Heaven. People who work for the kingdom of heaven may seem crazy and even trash in the eyes of this world. But all of them are precious in the eyes of the Lord. Therefore, let us join such people in doing the work of the kingdom of heaven. Let us seek God's help for that.
