Give Thanks

 

“I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth” - Psalm 34:1

 

Once in a desert, a little bird without wings was tired, thirsty, and hungry. One day, an angel passed by. The bird asked, “Where are you going?” The angel said, “I am going to meet the Lord.” The bird requested, “Please ask the Lord: how long will I live like this? Will there be no end to my suffering?” The angel went to heaven and told the Lord what the bird had asked. The Lord smiled and said, “Yes, till the end of its life it will remain like this. The angel of God was very sad. The Lord told the angel to tell the bird to say this prayer that I am saying every day. Do you know what prayer it is? "Lord! Thank you for everything." The angel went to the sparrow and told him what the Lord had said and passed by. The sparrow also raised its voice as high as it could every day and said, "Thank you for everything, Lord." At first, nothing changed. But the bird never stopped praying even for one day.

 

One day it rained in the desert. Plants began to sprout. The bird saw its image in the water that was standing under a plant. Beautiful feathers had sprouted on it. It was happy. Now it got food every day. But it did not stop praying because it had everything.

 

In the Bible, King David's life was not a luxurious life. When he wrote Psalm 34, he was chased away by his son Abimelech. Yes, he had experienced many hardships since he was young. But he never stopped thanking the Lord. Do we praise God in difficult times? Our God is watching over us. “This people have I formed for myself; they shall shew forth my praise” (Isaiah 43:21). The Lord delights in our praise. If we also thank and praise Him in both good times and bad times, our lives will be transformed. Let us not forget the simple prayer God taught the little bird

 

“Thank you, Lord Jesus, for everything”. Amen
