What do you want?
“…What is thy petition? and it shall be granted thee…” - Esther 5:6
A king once made an announcement for his birthday. He said that on his birthday, anyone from the town could come to the palace and take anything they liked. The king's birthday came. The king was sitting on the throne. People started coming to the palace. The people who entered bowed to the king and took away the expensive things they liked. Finally, a boy entered. The king said to him, "Take what you want." The boy stood quietly. The king asked, "What do you want?" The boy said, "O king, you must come to my house." Immediately the king called the minister who was there and said, "Make arrangements for me to go to the boy's house." The people standing around mocked him, saying that he was asking the king to come to his house instead of taking the things he had found. Then the minister went to the boy's house. It was a small hut. He immediately made the house comfortable for the king to come and go. There, a road was prepared for the king's chariot. Then the king came to the boy's house. Because of the boy's wisdom, his house was repaired, and a good road was made for the entire city.
In the book of Esther, Esther put on royal robes and stood in the inner courtyard of the king’s palace. The king was sitting on his throne. The king was sitting on his throne in the court opposite the palace gate. Because she had found favour in the king's eyes, the king extended the golden scepter that was in his hand; then Esther approached and touched the tip of the scepter. She invited the king and Haman to a banquet. During the wine service at the banquet, the king asked Esther, “What is your request? It will be granted to you. Even if you ask for half my kingdom, it will be given.” Esther received exactly what she requested.
Dear children of God who are reading this, what are you asking for today? Our God is able to give you everything you ask for. The Bible says in 1 Cor.15:19, “If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.” Let us seek God. God will bless and exalt us. He will use our lives to bless many others. Amen!
