Do good!

 

“Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good” - Romans 12:21

 

At my new job, a sister who did not need to exercise authority over me in any way, exercised authority over me unjustly and tried to control me. As I prayed to the Lord and read the Bible, God taught me to overcome evil with good according to Romans 12:21. So I continued to help them, serve them, etc. Eventually, they realized their mistake and began to love me. God helped us both to become good friends. That is how true God’s teaching is!

 

In the Bible, in 2 Kings. Chapter 5, a little girl who was taken as a slave to the land of Syria, despite losing her country, family, and relatives, had great love for God and bore fruit. She was concerned about her master Naaman, who was suffering from leprosy. Hearing what the little girl said, the government came forward to send Naaman to Israel. What great good deeds she had done. When Naaman was healed, salvation came to the land of Syria. The people came to know that the Lord is the true God. The little girl, whose name and family background are not mentioned in the Bible, turned a whole nation to the Lord with her good deeds. Although leprosy is a terrible disease, she realized the power of God and had complete faith in the God of Israel, not fearing that she would be punished for if the disease did not heal.

 

Dear Beloved! If we do good to those who have harmed us and listen to the word of the Lord and act accordingly, our small obedience will shake our family, village, and even the nation. Let us submit our hearts to the Lord to do good, to walk according to the Word of God. The Scriptures will refine our hearts, so let us do good even to those who have done us harm!
