The Soul

 

“…How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation…” - Hebrews 2:3

 

Burton, one of the most famous painters in America, wrote this message before committing suicide. I have fled from one wife to another, from one country to another, in an attempt to escape my sin. By doing so, I have caused great suffering to those who lived with me. The reason for all this is none other than me. Every day, I struggled just to get through 24 hours. Because I failed in that, I am ending my life. Despite having gained fame, wealth, and position, he failed in life because he failed to protect his soul. Burton ended his life as a loser of his soul.

 

In the Bible, the Lord said to King Solomon, “I have given you a wise and understanding heart; there has been no one like you before you, nor will any arise after you.” God had placed him in such a high position. But he did not obey God’s command. God warned him many times, but he did not listen. So, his decision ended up tragically losing his soul.

 

My dear friends, how great a salvation God has given us. Do we not have the will to obey God even though God has repeatedly rebuked us for our sins? We only live one life. Let us live it for God. When we close our eyes, let our soul be our desire to be in the presence of God in heaven. The value of our soul is priceless. Let us guard it without losing it.
