No Room?

 

“And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn” - Luke 2:7

 

During the Christmas season, our schools and churches perform dramas about the birth of Christ, don't they? In one such school, a drama was being performed. In it, a student named Ramesh played the innkeeper. Mary's time for delivery had come. Joseph went to the inn and asked for a place to stay. The innkeeper, Ramesh, was supposed to say, "There is no room here, but there is room in the stable. You can stay there if you want." But Ramesh, while acting in that scene, instead of saying there was no room, said, "There is no room here, but there is room in my room. Come and stay there." No one expected this. The audience was stunned for a moment. Then everyone applauded and praised Ramesh enthusiastically.

 

In Luke chapter 19, we see a tax collector named Zacchaeus. He was eager to see what kind of person Jesus Christ was. Because he was short, he ran ahead on the path where Jesus was coming and climbed a sycamore tree to see Him. Jesus came near the tree and called out, "Zacchaeus, come down!" He gave the Lord a place in his heart and in his home, and he was blessed.

 

Just as there was no room in the inn that day, today there is no room for the baby Jesus in the hearts of many. But the Son of God descended from the heavens to this earthly world as a man. He came seeking us, loved us, and delivered us from sin. He came as the true light, the Prince of Peace. If we do not give Him a place, we are to be pitied.

 

Dear Reader, have you given a place to Jesus Christ in your heart? Or is He still standing outside, knocking on the door of your heart? Let us examine ourselves for a moment: Am I living as a Christian without Christ? Let us offer Him our heart, which is as foul-smelling as a stable, and invite Him in. Let us celebrate Christmas with Christ.
