Two Squirrels

 

“But know that the LORD hath set apart him that is godly for himself:...” - Psalm 4:3

 

Two squirrels were good friends. They were happily playing, climbing trees etc. One of the squirrels was very devout, while the other had absolutely no faith in God. This squirrel often said that those who plan and act don't need God. One day, while they were playing, the devout squirrel slipped from the tree and fell down but survived with only minor injuries. It thanked God for saving it from a great danger. Seeing this, the other squirrel in the tree laughed loudly.

 

The devout squirrel said, "Even though I suffered, I was not abandoned because I trust in God. Even if God pushed me down, there must be a reason," and looked at its friend with sorrow. Closing its eyes, it prayed to God, "God, forgive me if I have done anything wrong that led to this humiliation." When it opened its eyes, it saw a horrific sight before it. A dangerous poisonous snake was moving closer to the squirrel on the tree. The squirrel on the ground shouted, “A snake is coming near you!”. But the squirrel on the tree could not hear. The snake quickly grabbed the squirrel in the tree. By the time it realized that there was a reason even for its friend's fall from the tree, it had been completely swallowed.

 

Dear little ones, when you stumble and fall, your friends may mock you but remember that it might even be God saving you. Thank the Lord at all times and for everything. Thank the Lord even in difficult situations. Never forget that the Lord who gave you this beautiful life will do everything for your good. Be devoted to the Lord Jesus Christ, because “the Lord has set apart the godly for himself.”
