What is true love?

 

“…lovest thou me?" - John 21:16

 

For those of us who read the Bible, Jesus Christ alone is the most loving One. His love is not limited to a group of people, but as it is in John 3:16, He loved the whole world. I will mention one thing for the young people who are reading this.

 

There is a book called Song of Solomon in the Bible. It is a wonderful love letter. No one has written such a love letter, and no one will ever write it again. The bridegroom represents Jesus, and the bride represents the Church. In Song of Solomon 4:7, "You are perfect, my love; there is no flaw in you." The love of Christ was revealed on the cross. He did not condemn or judge anyone, but rather a great love that extends both arms and embraces everyone. In John 8:11, He said to the woman caught in adultery, “Go, and sin no more.” It was a love that did not throw stones.

 

During the Sermon on the Mount, when He saw that the people were hungry, He was moved with compassion and fed them. The love that wiped away the tears of Martha and Mary when their brother Lazarus died. The love that healed the lepers. The love that gave sight to the blind. The love that set free the demon possessed. Even when dying on the cross, the love that said, “Father, forgive them.” The love that asked Peter, who had denied Him, three times, “Do you love Me?” and commanded him to “Feed My sheep.”

 

Only the love of Jesus is constant and true. Whether we fall or stand, whether we win or lose, whether we are healthy or sick, whether we are prosperous or poor, His love for us never changes!

 

Dear young people, no one in this world can love you more than the love of Jesus Christ. There is no greater love than the love of Jesus who came to give His life for the world. Do not long for or be deceived by temporary human love. Jesus loves you Amen.
