Let Us Share What We Know
“…how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard?...” – Romans 10:14
During the Christmas season, a family had set up a beautiful nativity scene (crib) in their home for the children. It was arranged with miniature figurines depicting the birth of the baby Jesus, and illuminated by decorative lights, the display presented a truly beautiful sight. One day, a little girl in the house looked at the crib and asked her mother, “What is inside this?” Her mother gently explained the story of Jesus’ birth how He was born in a humble place, how the shepherds rejoiced, and how the wise men brought precious gifts. The child listened with great curiosity and interest, taking in every detail. The very next morning, the sanitation worker who regularly cleaned their street was going about his duties as usual. Upon noticing the crib in the little girl's home, he inquired as to what it was. With the simple innocence of a child, the little girl explained to the sanitation worker exactly what her mother had taught her. The following day, the sanitation worker brought his own daughter along; pointing out the figurines in the display, he shared with her the story of Christ's birth. Thus, the Gospel began to spread from one person to another in a most simple manner. The reason? The little girl had unhesitatingly shared what she knew!
In the Scriptures, in Genesis 37:15, we read about a certain man. When Joseph was sent by his father, Jacob, to check on the well-being of his brothers, he wandered off course in the open fields and could not find them. It was then that this unnamed individual who observed Joseph wandering, asked him, "What are you looking for?" Subsequently, by sharing the information he had, "I heard them say, 'Let us go to Dothan'" and he guided Joseph, who was otherwise at a loss for direction. This man, too, played a role in ensuring that Joseph was guided precisely toward God's divine plan. He had fulfilled his part. In the same way, let us in our own lives share unhesitatingly with others what we know about the Lord. The young girl who served as a slave in Naaman’s household shared a simple yet profoundly true insight regarding how Naaman could be healed; through her words, salvation came to the entire nation of Syria.
Share with absolute confidence what you know and what God has accomplished in your own life. God will surely work within the hearts of those who listen. Rather than hesitating comparing yourself to prominent ministers and thinking, "I cannot speak like them" step forward to share what you know and contribute your part to the Kingdom of God. An unnamed individual earned a place in the Scriptures simply by guiding Joseph. Let us, too, lead those living in darkness into the light and become heirs of Heaven. Amen!
