Come Near

 

“And he arose and came to his father...” - Luke 15:20

 

One day, I was sitting in my room reading the Bible. Just then, my son, Joe, walked into my room with his friends. I said, “Joe, go outside and play.” Without a moment's hesitation, he replied, “Daddy, I am your son; I belong right where you are. Where else would I go?” At that moment, I began to ponder: Are we truly united with our Heavenly Father? Are we truly dwelling in the place where He resides?

 

In the Bible, too, there is the story of a father who had two sons. The younger son asked his father to give him his share of the inheritance; having received it, he wasted it all in reckless living until he reached a point where he could not even find the pig's husks to satisfy his hunger. Even as the father divided and handed over the share of the inheritance, he likely knew that his son would misuse it. Yet, he gave it to him. Then, one day, the son came to his senses. He realized that even the hired servants in his father's house had plenty of food to eat, whereas he was suffering here because he was far away from his father's presence. So, he decided to return to his father and work as one of his hired servants and turned back and headed home. The father, meanwhile, had been waiting patiently for his son's return. Thus, when he spotted his son approaching, he ran out and embraced him, forgiving him and welcoming him back. Like that younger son, come back to your Heavenly Father. No matter what state you are in, He will accept you and turn your lacking’s into abundance.

 

Dear All, as you read this, are you going through hardship, feeling low, or lacking something in your life? Take a moment to reflect is your Heavenly Father with you? The Heavenly Father waits eagerly, hoping that you will come to your senses and return to Him. When you realize your errors and return in repentance, the Heavenly Father welcomes you with open arms Not only that, He will remove your sinful, stained garments and clothe you with new garments of salvation, bestow upon you the ring of authority befitting His child, and provide you with sandals to ensure your steps do not falter as you walk His path; thus, He will make up for all your deficiencies. He will grant you all these things even before you ask. It is enough simply to draw near to Him and call out, "Father!" No matter what situation you are in, He will accept you and embrace you.
