He Will Accomplish All Things

 

“The LORD will perfect that which concerneth me;...” - Psalm 138:8

 

A scientist who worked under former President Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam once asked him for permission to leave the office at 5:30 PM that evening. Abdul Kalam asked him the reason for his request. The scientist immediately replied, "I have promised my children that I would take them to an exhibition today." Kalam granted him permission. The scientist then resumed his work. In the intensity of his work, he completely forgot about the time 5:30 PM and the promise he had made to his children. When he finally finished his tasks and checked the clock, it was already 8:30 PM. Wondering what explanation he could possibly give his children, he headed home. Upon arriving, he found that his children were not there. When he inquired with his wife, she told him that Abdul Kalam himself had come and taken the children to the exhibition. Because the scientist was so engrossed in his work, his superior Abdul Kalam stepped in and personally carried out the task the scientist was supposed to perform.

 

In the same way, in the Bible, Daniel and his friends made a firm decision not to defile themselves with the king’s food and wine. When they spoke to the chief official regarding this matter, God granted them favour so that they might receive the necessary permission. After ten days had passed, God granted them grace so that their faces appeared healthier and their bodies sturdier than all the other young men who ate the king's food. He increased their wisdom and their abilities for at that specific place and at that specific time, that was exactly what they needed. And God provided it. Daniel and his friends had not even prayed for this specific outcome. Nevertheless, God multiplies and gives back tenfold. Our God gives according to His power and His might and not give according to the human measure.

 

Dear Friends, in order to receive according to God’s power and might, let us strive to do things that are pleasing to the Lord to the very best of our ability. When we act and give for the sake of God, He is fully capable of taking care of our own needs. “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” (Matt. 6:33).
