The Right Moment

 

“A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver” - Proverbs 25:11

 

A businessman, due to heavy losses in his business, began to think about ending his life. Seeing him depressed and broken, his friend invited him to come to a nearby church. The pastor there shared the Gospel with him and prayed for him and sent him on his way. As a result, peace filled the businessman’s heart, and his thoughts of suicide disappeared.

 

In the 20th chapter of 2 Samuel, while pursuing Sheba, Joab laid siege to the city of Abel and sought a way to bring down its fortifications. At that critical moment, a wise woman unwilling to see the entire city destroyed for the sake of a single man spoke with Joab, and the city was spared. Similarly, there are many around us today who are perishing held captive by sin, ensnared by the devil, and bound by curses. We possess the "living word" the message of life that can rescue them from this destruction. We bear the responsibility to speak that word at the right moment and save people from perishing. Through a single phrase "Come to church" one soul was liberated from suicidal thoughts and saved from the condemnation of hell. Likewise, through the words of one wise woman, an entire city was preserved.

 

Just as we have received eternal life, we should earnestly desire that those around us also receive this eternal life. Our desire must not remain merely a wish; we must actively strive to make it a reality. The God who gave us life is fully capable of giving life to them as well. Therefore, let us share the message of this life-giving God and His powerful Word with the people all around us. If the Gospel is not proclaimed at the opportune moment, it can lead many to spiritual death and cast them into eternal hell. Our knowledge of Christ the Bread of Life and of His Word is not intended merely for our own personal satisfaction. Let us strive to proclaim this message to others as well, so that they too may attain eternal life. A single soul is more precious than the value of the entire world; if that one soul is saved, Heaven rejoices. Therefore, let us make a firm decision today: let us reveal Jesus to the people we encounter. Let Heaven rejoice because of us. If Heaven rejoices, heavenly blessings will surely come upon us.
