A Living Testimony in Life

 

“… let not the sun go down upon your wrath:” - Ephesians 4:26

 

Families who have accepted Christ as their personal Savior should live as families that bear a powerful witness filled with love, patience, and divine peace. Should a minor issue arise that causes bitterness, it must be resolved before going to sleep that night; specifically, the husband and wife must forgive one another and retire for the night in peace. This creates a healthy and nurturing environment where children can grow with good character and emotional strength.

 

Alan Redpath, a young man born into a Christian family, had been living his life without accepting God. One day, he saw his father speak very harshly to his mother in anger. His mother remained silent and calm. That evening, the three of them sat down to have dinner. At that moment, the father took his wife's hand and said, "I do not know why I treated you so harshly today. I am ashamed of having behaved in such a manner. Please, forgive me."

 

Witnessing this, Alan went into his room, knelt down, and prayed, "O God, thank You for giving me such a father. Please make me like You as well." From that day forward, his life was transformed. He dedicated himself to serving God. He went on to serve as the long-time pastor of the renowned Moody Memorial Church in America.

 

Dear parents, do you want your children to grow up loving God? Then, as parents, you must become living examples of divine love in your own lives. Let your children learn virtues such as humility, patience, and the willingness to forgive others by observing them in you. In accordance with the verse, “Just as God in Christ forgave you, so you also must forgive one another,” we must refrain from seeking vengeance against those who have wronged us; instead, we should forgive them and demonstrate God’s love. “My children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth” (1 John 3:18). So, as parents, let your life be pleasing to God and a powerful testimony to your children.
