Waiting

 

“Hope deferred maketh the heart sick: but when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life” - Proverbs 13:12

 

The Pool of Bethesda was unique. At certain times, an angel would come down and stir the waters of the pool. At that moment, the first person to step in, regardless of the nature of their disease would be healed. Consequently, the five halls surrounding the pool were filled with people suffering from various diseases. Among them was a man who had been ill for thirty-eight years. Jesus went there and healed him.

 

The reason Jesus sought out this particular man was that, for thirty-eight years, he had waited in that very spot with unwavering hope. When Jesus asked him, “Do you wish to be made well?” the man immediately professed his faith. He explained that whenever the waters of the pool were stirred, he had no one to carry him into the water; yet, he believed that if he could just get in, he would be healed. Moved by this faith and his patient waiting, Jesus Himself went to him. He did not give up, thinking, “I will never receive healing,” or “I cannot make it there,” or “My presence here is futile.” Because of this attitude, even though no human being came to his aid, God Himself sought him out and granted him healing.

 

Dear all, do you too, feel discouraged, thinking that your prayers to the One who hears them have yielded no results? Remember the man who waited patiently for thirty-eight years. Therefore, continue to pray with faith until you receive an answer to your petitions. God Himself will come seeking you out and perform a miracle in your life. Wait with faith and receive your miracle!
