Have You Lost Jesus?
“...And he wist not that the LORD was departed from him” - Judges 16:20
Did you know that a virgin became a mother? She was a woman chosen by God; an angel of the Lord personally delivered the message to her, and she gave birth to the child through the fullness of the Holy Spirit. People from all walks of life, both the poor and the wealthy came to see the child, bowed down in reverence, presented gifts, and departed. Hearing the many prophecies spoken about the child, His parents were amazed and treasured all these things in their hearts as they raised Him. However, when they came to celebrate a festival, they became so occupied with the festivities that they lost track of the child. As they began their journey home, they searched for Him among the crowd of relatives and travellers. That woman was none other than Mary, the mother of Jesus.
Similarly, in the Old Testament, there was a man named Samson. Samson performed extraordinary feats through the power of the Spirit of the Lord. However, because he indulged in worldly pleasures, desires, and lusts, he remained unaware that the Lord had departed from him. Pilate, despite knowing that Jesus was innocent of any wrongdoing, washed his hands of the matter to appease the people. Even today, many who claim to be Christians, those who know the Lord celebrate various festivals, such as festivals of thanksgiving and harvest festivals. Yet, they have lost Jesus and celebrate without Him. Furthermore, having prioritized worldly matters, and remaining oblivious to the fact that Jesus Christ has departed from them, they continue to go about their routines exactly as they did before. Consequently, they experience deep disappointments when they discover that there is no blessing to be found in their actions. They stop living in a manner pleasing to God, such as praying and reading the Scriptures with true devotion opting instead to perform these acts merely to be seen by others like their friends, their relatives, and the society at large.
Dear all, are you like Mary, like Samson, or like Pilate? Reflect upon this. Even if you have lost Jesus, should you repent and seek Him today, He is powerful enough to bestow upon you a great blessing. When Mary came seeking Him, she not only found Jesus but was also filled with wonder at His wisdom. When Samson realized that the Lord was no longer with him, he repented and pleaded, "Please remember me just this once"; in response, the Lord strengthened him. At the moment of his death, Samson slew more people than he had during his entire lifetime. The power of God descended mightily. If you have lost the Lord, repent this very day. I have but one thing to say: Do not lose Jesus for the sake of anything else. Be prepared to lose anything for the sake of Jesus. Those who have lost something for the sake of Christ have never ended up in poverty.
