Be Merciful

 

“Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy” - Matthew 5:7

 

Hi kids! How are you? I hope you are doing well and You must have really enjoyed your holidays, right? Have you started your studies again? You need to study well, okay.

 

Shall we look at a story now that is both funny and meaningful? Have you heard of the American President Abraham Lincoln, kids? Before he rose to that high office, he was a lawyer. One day, a case came to him. A wealthy man brought someone to him and said, "This man borrowed 5 dollars from me and hasn't paid it back. So, I am going to file a lawsuit against him." Hearing this, Abraham Lincoln felt compassion for the man. He asked the wealthy man, "He is a poor man; it is only 5 dollars, can't you forgive that?" But the wealthy man replied, "No, I cannot forgive it. Tell me, how much would it cost to file this case?" Lincoln said, "10 dollars." The wealthy man took 10 dollars out of his pocket and handed it over. Lincoln took 5 dollars from that amount, gave it to the poor man, and said, "Give this money back to him." The problem was resolved that very instant! The poor man didn't even know how to express his gratitude. Look, kids, did you see how beautifully he solved the problem in just a moment?

 

In the same way, we too must forgive others. We pray, "Forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors," don't we? The Bible says: “Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord.” When we give to the poor, the Lord repays us and blesses us. Therefore, we must help those in need and show them the Lord’s love. Just as Abraham Lincoln showed compassion to that poor man, we too can help others and, in doing so, let them know about Jesus’ love.

 

What do you want to become when you grow up? A doctor? A teacher? A pastor? Whatever you choose, you must live in the fear of the Lord and obey Him. I want all of you to become great missionaries in the future. Okay…
