Do Not Hide Your Sins

 

"He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy" - Proverbs 28:13

 

There was a beautiful village where two friends, Vanitha and Vinitha, lived. They always went to school and played together. One holiday, they were sitting and playing under a banyan tree. Just then, Vinitha’s grandfather walked by on the road. They asked him, "Where are you going, Grandpa?" He replied, "I am going to the landlord's house to deliver some mangoes I picked from his farm." Immediately, both girls said, "Grandpa, we want to come to the farm with you." Grandpa agreed and took them along. They walked happily, playing as they went. Soon, they reached the landlord's farm. The mangoes were placed in a basket, which was then lifted onto Grandpa's head. The girls asked, "Grandpa, can we look around the farm?" Grandpa said, "No, dears. Let’s just drop this off at the landlord's house and go home." Grandpa walked ahead, looked back, and told them to hurry up. Just then, three mangoes fell from the basket. Grandpa didn't notice and kept walking briskly. Vanitha and Vinitha, who were following behind, picked up the fallen mangoes and ate them as they walked. The mangoes were sweet.

 

Grandpa entered the landlord's house, while the girls stood outside, still eating the fruit. They could hear the landlord scolding Grandpa from inside. When they went in to look, they saw the landlord weighing the fruit and scolding Grandpa. Immediately, Vanitha and Vinitha stepped forward and said, "Sir, please forgive us. When Grandpa was bringing the fruit, three mangoes fell down." "We were the ones who took and ate it; Grandpa didn't know. Please forgive us," they said. "Sir, if you tell us the cost of the fruit, we will get the money from our father and pay you," they added. The farm owner immediately said, "Very good children; you have admitted your mistake. From now on, if you pick up anything from the ground, you must hand it over to the rightful owner, okay?" He then took two mangoes, gave one to each of them, and sent them on their way.

 

If you make a mistake, you shouldn't hide it. You should admit the error and seek forgiveness. Okay? Bye.
