Do you want to be healed?
“…Do you want to be made well?” - John 5:6
When Jesus Christ came to Jerusalem during a festival, he went to a pool called Bethesda which was near Sheep Gate. There was a man lying with disease for 38 years. In the Bible we read that Jesus asked him, “Do you want to be made well?” We may think, whether he was lying there without wishing to be healed? Since he was lying there for 38 years, he might have been there without any hope and thought he would be in that place up to his death and with frustration and pain. To change his frustration and pain and to know his own position, He asked this question.
He might have thought that even He might bring him to that pool of Bethesda. He did not know that the person questioned him was Jesus. He told his agony to Him. Immediately, Jesus said, “Rise, take up your bed and walk” and he obeyed to rise and he walked and healed. What a miracle! If Jesus did not ask that question to him and if He just told him “Take your bed and walk”, it was doubtful of his healing. Before healing him, to get ready for the healing and to get him healed, He asked that question.
Today also, our Lord, Jesus asks every one of us, “Do you want to be made well?” First of all, we must feel that in what status we are in. we may have weakness in our soul or illness or be slaves to some ill habits like alcoholic, drugs, cigarette, and more; and cannot evade from these habits. Or even there may not be a willingness to get out of this habit. This is the calling from the Lord to those who are reading this. Lord! I want to be healed. Today, you ask our Lord, “Wash and cleanse my sins by your blood and make me free.” As per the verse of Bible, “For everyone who asks receives”, you will be freed from the sin; even from your disease. When we obey His sound of love, we can get immediate freedom and blessing. Do you want to be healed? Come to Jesus! Amen.
