Foolish bird and worm merchant…

 

“Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren.” - James 1:16

 

One much beautiful coloured bird with colours flied wandering here and there to get its prey and since it got nothing, it sat in a place with much hungry. At that place one worm merchant was doing his business of selling worms for money. That bird, with much hungry, asked him to give one worm. For that, that merchant asked to give money. Since that bird was not having money, it said “I will give one of my feathers which were polished with many colours.” When the merchant heard this, he thought that this was beautiful and he could get more money by selling that; and he got one feather and gave one worm. Since the bird was so hungry, it got the worm and ate it eagerly. Since it was so hungry, that one worm was not enough for that. Instantly, it asked one more worm from the merchant. He also got one more feather and gave another worm. Like this, that bird which was unable to control itself, gave all its feathers to the merchant, insensitively, and got worms to eat. That coloured bird became featherless bird. When it thought everything was ok and tried to fly to its nest, alas, it suffered, since it was not able to fly. That merchant went on his way. At that time only, that coloured bird felt its foolishness. Within some hours, it became food to other birds. 

 

Yes. When we read this, we may get sympathy for the coloured bird and angry on the merchant. Those who are reading this, like this coloured bird, are you living with foolishness in any matter and losing your wellness? Wicked enemy is like this merchant. He will stir desire and lust in us and use his net to rob the good gifts given by the Lord to us. As written in 1 Peter 5:8, your adversary the devil, walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. So, as said in the other part of this verse, be sober, be vigilant; and be cautious that you do not put down the good gifts of God for lowly comfort. Let God give his grace!
