“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you;” - Jeremiah 1:5 

 

One farmer plowed his land twice. When a resident of town saw this, he asked, “You already plowed your land once. Then why are you plowing again and wasting your labor and time?” For that, the farmer replied “When I plowed first time, it seemed some parts of the soil were hard. Because of this hardness, my sowing seeds may not give its full benefit. But after the second plowing, the standard of soil will be changed and the sowing seeds will get roots to grow and can give a good benefit.” 

 

The Lord knew Jeremiah, who is called by us as the prophet of tears, before He formed him in his mother’s womb, sanctified him, ordained him as prophet to the nations and sent. At the time of his childhood itself, the Lord gave him the authority over the nations to build, to plant, to pull down and to root out. He warned the people of the nation, when they sinned against the Lord. But nobody listened to his words. Rather they tortured and made him to suffer. Even though they did so, he did not show hatred against those people, but he struggled till the end to get them released from the anger of the Lord. He cried with tears and lamented. Till the end, he told the words of the Lord and warned them. This is the character The Lord expects from us. 

 

Dear Child of God! When the Lord makes you, he needs you also to be brought into some hard situations. You realize that these are all for the reason to do glorified things by you in the nation. In that situation you stood stunned as embarrassed, when you submit yourself that ‘Lord, let it be as per your will’, we can give good benefits like that land. Moreover, like Jeremiah, that good character of prayer with tears will be created within us. If we say that ‘I cannot bear these,’ we are of no use to the Lord.
