Warning message 

 

“Like a bird that wanders from its nest is a man who wanders from his place.” – Proverbs 27:8 

 

Sreesanth gained fame as a skillful fast bowler from 2008 to 2012. His bowling was of great strength to the Indian Cricket team. But in 2012, he got involved in a spot fixing scandal in IPL. He was arrested and then found guilty of betting. He was banned for life from any form of Cricket by BCCI’s disciplinary committee. He spends his time in acting in films, creating T.V shows and getting involved in politics. He lost his high rank as a star Cricketeer. What a fall! It is a lesson for life.

 

The second chapter of the book of 1 Samuel in the Bible details the gradual down fall of Eli from his position. He was the high priest with a lot of experience in priesthood. But he failed to raise his sons in the fear of God. His sons made themselves vile and wicked. But Eli could not restrain them. Eli could not understand the voice of God and His perfect will as he apparently lacked spirit and zeal. A dire warning was given by a man of God. He was dethroned. What a grave situation! God would raise up for Him a faithful priest who would do according to what was in his heart and in mind. His plight was like a bird that flees its nest.

 

Beloved in Christ, even some ministers of God were greatly impacted by the coronavirus. Their unwavering commitment is shaken. They wander here and there as they are indecisive. We need to understand God’s word. There is no protection for the one who wanders from his place like the bird that flees its nest. In our workplace we may land in problems such as gambling, bribery, discontentment or temptation that may depose us from our position. Beware of falling! Be steadfast in the resolve to reach the goal.
