Daily Devotion (English) – 12.12.2021 (Kids Special)

 

If daddy does not turn up…

 

“My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.” – Psalm 121:2 

 

Dearly beloved kids, the very word Christmas brings joy, doesn’t it? The star, the Christmas tree and the manger scene are beautiful beyond words. You might have enjoyed watching them in your friend’s house also. But when we are jubilant and over-joyed, we need to think about the under privileged. We should remember to reach out to the needy. Ok. Come let us listen to the story. 

 

Two little girls named Jiji and Jelsi lived with their mother in a beautiful village. Their father served in the army. He could come home only on annual leave. The children had a nice time when their father came on holidays. Their daddy spent more time with them. They went shopping with him to buy the things needed. Lately there were no calls, no messages and no letters from him. They did not know the reason for his silence. Their mother worked hard to meet both ends. She did not have extra money to purchase dress for the children. She was disheartened. Jelsi had a fever as she missed her daddy very much. Their mother did not have enough money to take her to the doctor for treatment. At once Jiji said, “Let us ask Jesus to provide us our need.” So, they prayed with faith. What a miracle! The next morning Jelsi got up and began to play as usual. She had recovered from

 fever. Just two days were left for the day of Christmas. Their mother got dejected because she could not get new dress for her children. When Jiji said that Jesus would provide all our needs, her mother felt as if Jesus was speaking to her directly. Do you hold family prayer at night? Yes, fine. It was Jiji’s turn to pray in their family prayer. After the prayer, they went to sleep. The next morning there was a knock at the door. When the door was opened, they could not believe their eyes. Their daddy had arrived. He brought dresses and gifts for them. The children were exceedingly joyful. Actually, daddy had kept his arrival secret to give them a pleasant surprise. Their mother thanked God for meeting all their needs on time. The family went to church and celebrated Christmas joyfully. 

 

What a memorable Christmas for them! We need not worry if our parents have not got the new clothes yet. We need not feel sad that there is no one to help us. Jesus the saviour of the world, who came to earth will provide our needs certainly. Let our eyes seek only His face. Happy Christmas!
