Decorated house

 

“…Zacchaeus, make haste and come down, for today I must stay at your house.” – Luke 19:5

 

That was a very big and beautiful house. It was bustling with activity. Everyone was busy with their work. The house was adorned with serial lights, festoons balloons and streamers. The house was made neat and tidy. The rich aromatic flavor of delicious food was diffusing from the kitchen. What was special about that day?

 

It was the first birthday of the house owner’s son. Special arrangements were made for the party. The little boy’s father was engaged in making and answering phone calls. All were immersed in their work and they forgot to feed the baby right from morning. The baby was looking at everyone with longing eyes. He could not express his hunger. In the bedecked house, with a towering cake and sumptuous feast the celebration began. The guests presented the baby with jewels, costly clothes and rare gifts. It was the time for cake cutting. The baby fainted due to hunger. Then only the parents remembered that the baby had gone hungry for a long time. 

 

Beloved brothers and sisters, this message is only for us and to those who are getting prepared for celebrating Christmas. Christmas decoration, fine clothes, impressive manger scene, twinkling stars and radiant lights are feast to our eyes. But who is the main figure of Christmas? Is Christ in our house? Does Jesus dwell in our hearts? Have we adorned ourselves with love, joy, peace and holiness that pleases God? 

 

“Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and be with him.” (Revelation 3:20) When Jesus came to Zacchaeus’ house, he received salvation. Let us open the door of our heart to let Jesus come into us and be with us. Then our celebration is meaningful. If Jesus abides with us, each day is special and joyful.

Pray that the servants of God who read the “Handbook of donkeys” are used as sharp threshing instruments in the hand of God.
