Guiding star

 

“When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceedingly great joy” - Matthew 2:10 

 

In America, after the second world war a certain father and his little son were walking along a road in one evening. The little boy had a look at every house he passed by. He observed the engraved star on the walls of almost all the houses. He curiously asked his father the reason behind it. His father explained to him that the star marked the participation of one of the members of the family who went to war and they were honored by the government. Then he asked about the gold star. His father replied saying that the gold star represented the civilians who sacrificed their lives in the war. Thus, the gold stars were dedicated to the brave men of war. It was getting darker. Then they had to pass through some empty land. The little boy looked up at the sky. He saw a twinkling star. He exclaimed with joy that he could see a beautiful star in the sky also. His father narrated to him about the star mentioned in the Bible and seen by the wise men in the East to mark the birth of Jesus, who was sent by God to earth to save the sinful men from perdition. 

 

The wise men were guided by the unique star. It went ahead of them and showed them the right way. They travelled a long way. Moreover, they travelled only at dark nights and in biting cold as they were following the guiding star. Disregarding all the unfavorable situations, they proceeded and reached their destination. The star came and stood over where the young child was. What a wonderful star! They came into the house; they saw the young child with Mary and worshipped Him. They opened their treasures and presented the gifts to Him.

 

Beloved, God teaches us a simple truth from the above quoted episode. In every one’s life, there may be a period of darkness and desperate situation. When the wisemen looked up above, they got the correct guidance. In the same way when we look up to the heaven, for sure God will be our guide and lead us to the Kingdom of heaven. When the citizens obey the rules of government, they are duly recognized. It is certain that God has the power to give us eternal glory, if we obey His commandments. Amen!
