Money is a sleepless forest 

 

“…for God loves a cheerful giver…” – 2 Corinthians 9:7 

 

Hello kids! Jesus has performed many miracles in our lives throughout this year, right from January till today. We need to thank Jesus for all His blessings namely keeping us alive, nurturing and cherishing us and keeping us healthy. We should give thanks with folded hands and grateful heart daily. Don’t forget it. Ok, shall we listen to the story?    

 

There lived a rich man. He owned a lot of properties and a large amount of money. He was accumulating wealth and did not know what to do with the amassed money. He was so selfish that his concern was only for him and his family. He had never thought about the underprivileged. He lived in fear of being robbed off his wealth. He did not get sleep as he thought thieves would steal his money. So, he decided to keep it safe. He stacked up all the money in a big treasure chest and locked it safely. At night he dug a deep pit in his garden and buried the treasure chest and hidden it. He was glad that his treasure was safe and no one knew the hidden place of the treasure. Whenever it rained, he would not sleep because he was afraid that rain water might go into the treasure chest. In the morning, he would see to that. If the chest was undisturbed, he was at peace. His actions were noticed by one of his servants. So, the servant took away all the money and left the empty chest. One day when the rich man opened the chest to check if everything was safe, he was shocked to see the empty box. He gave a loud scream and cried in despair. The neighbors came running to find out what the matter was. When they heard about the hidden treasure, they all remarked, “Who will keep the money under the ground? Who will be benefitted by it?” He need not worry about the idle money that was not useful and helpful to anybody.” The rich man realized how selfish he was to keep everything for himself. There was a transformation in his attitude. He began to help others in need and enjoyed peace and happiness.

 

Dear boys and girls, God has bestowed on us so many blessings, comfort and wealth. We should not be selfish. We need to reach out to the poor and needy. Sharing is caring. The more we give, the more we receive. In the New year let us make a resolution to be cheerful givers and happy helpers.
