Valor 

 

“He said, “Look I see the heavens opened and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God.” – Acts 7:56 

 

The British got victory in the Crimean war. The city of London was at its best with pomp and show. It was a great celebration. The soldiers who exhibited their valor in the war by performing heroic and brave deeds were awarded medals by Queen Victoria. As an acknowledgement of their personal sacrifice, they were honored duly. Many men of war had enormous bandages around their arms and legs. Many of them walked with the support of the walking sticks. The queen with an affectionate smile appreciated their acts of valor and presented them with the gifts. At last, a certain soldier was carried to the venue. He had fought so bravely that he had lost both his arms and legs. His face was also marred by the violent scars and on the whole he looked awful. 

 

Queen Victoria walked towards him with dignity. She pinned the medal on him. Then she bent down and kissed him on his forehead as a sign of adoration. She acknowledged him saying, “Well done! Good and faithful servant.” The soldier’s heart was bubbling over with joy and for a moment all his pains vanished. We read in the Bible that Stephen was stoned and was bleeding. With agony he gazed into heaven and saw the heavens opened and the Son of Man standing at the right side of God. He felt that it was the welcome given to him. He called out saying, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.” 

 

Dear readers, have we obtained a good testimony? Do we witness through our life example? Let us ponder. It is necessary to work for establishing the kingdom of God on earth with boldness. Let us be bold enough to give up anything for proclaiming and glorifying the name of Jesus wherever we are placed. For the fame and victory of a country a soldier is prepared to lose anything and even to lay down his life. Let us not hesitate to sacrifice something for the glory and honor of the kingdom of Heaven. “Let us proclaim the Kingdom of God and teach about the Lord Jesus Christ with all boldness and confidence.”
