Do God’s will

 

“In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” – 1Thessalonians 5:18

 

Mothers nourish and protect their little children with nutrient-rich food to keep them healthy and strong. Some of the items may not be delectable but contain nutrients. One day a little lad asked his mother why should we thank God even when you give us tasteless food to eat? Like the little lad we also sometimes have the mindset and think we need not give thanks when God allows something undesired by us happen in our lives. 

 

But take a look at Paul and Silas. They were thrown into the prison and their feet were fastened in the stocks. But they were praising and singing hymns to God. They did everything as God desired them to do and to be. The prison doors and the stocks could not stop them from giving praises and thanks to God rejoicingly. The apostles confronted distress and persecution in doing God’s ministry but they rejoiced in their sufferings. Under all circumstances they trusted in God and gave thanks to God. 

 

Nightingale is a songbird and it sings all at night. Utter darkness cannot restrict it from singing. The reason is nightingale carries out God’s purpose in creating it. Those who walk with God, do what God desires them to do and find delight in it. They never grow weary and lose heart seeing the unfavorable situations. We, the children of God must thank God for each and everything as that is the will of God for us. God never expects us to accomplish a task that is beyond our ability. So let us do God’s will by giving thanks to Him in everything in the New Year.

 

We, the children of God are expected to give thanks to God in everything under all circumstances and even in dangerous situations and even when we are surrounded by sickness, poverty, trouble, sorrow and trial. Do you know why? The Lord God gives us strength to endure and withstand them and sometimes provide us way to escape from them.
