Keep Trusting

 

“Therefore, do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward.” - Hebrews 10:35

 

The elders of a certain church asserted saying, “The ministry you have done so far is not sufficient for the church. Throughout this year you were able to gain the soul of a little boy alone. No one else was added to the church. Please, get transferred and leave this church.” The aged pastor was terribly upset by their remark. He resolved to detach himself completely from the ordinances of the church. That was his last service on Sunday. At the end of the service, the little boy who had come to the fold by him asked the pastor, “Sir, when I grow big, can I be a pastor like you?” Tears of joy rolled down the face of the pastor. He laid his hand on the head of the little boy and prayed and prophesied that he would certainly become a great missionary.

 

The years rolled by. One day there was mirth and joy in the city of London as they were going to welcome the missionary who was returning home after performing wonderful ministry among the tribals of Africa and after making a profound impact on the Africans. And the missionary was none other than the little lad who had the passion to be a missionary and blessed by the pastor. The great city of London was waiting for the arrival of that missionary, Robert Moffat.

 

Yes, we need not grow weary, when we cannot bring in remarkably transformation among people through our exemplary Christian life. We need not get discouraged if we are not able to win a greater number of souls for Christ being a missionary. The Bible says, “…be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.” (1Corinthians 15:58)

 

The verse of this day (I Corinthians 15:4) tells us not to cast away our confidence. We are at the beginning of a New Year. Let us not give up our faith in God as it is written in the Bible, the just shall live by faith. But of those who draw back to perdition, but of those who believe to the saving of the soul. May the Lord lead us and guide us! Amen.
