Daily Devotion (English) – 07.02.2022 (God’s creation’s special)

My Address

“…let him deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me.” - Matthew 16:24

I was despised by everyone before 2020 years. People who happened to see me were filled with horror and terror. This is my identity. Can you guess who I am? Yes. I am the cross used by the Romans for torturing and executing the condemned convicts. Crucifixion was a brutal form in which the victim was tied or nailed to a large wooden cross and left to hang until the blood drained through wounds and died. Thus, I was the symbol of shame and curse. There was wailing cry of pain and bloodshed around me. So, I absolutely despised myself. I hated my life. When I abhorred myself, Christ Jesus embraced me and took me willingly in his hands. A tremendous transformation took place in my life. I who was labeled as the sign of curse for years, have become the symbol of redemption. 

Jesus is sinless and holy. Then why did he take up the cross and lay down His life on the cross? He presented himself as a perfect sacrifice to be nailed on to the cross to take away your sins and the sin of the world. God’s eyes are too pure to look on evil or sin. But through his death He defeated and destroyed devil who had power over death and released you from the bondage. The relationship between God and man was disrupted by your transgression. The blood of Christ shed at the cross restored your broken communication with the creator and He made a new covenant in His blood. Moreover, He bore the curses and sickness in His body on the cross for those who believe in Him. Jesus assuredly said that one who follows Him must take up his cross.

What is the plight of the present-day Christians? It is a pity that you remember me only on good Friday instead of making it part of your everyday experience to recall the crucifixion and salvation. It is of no use if you have the image of me on church steeple or in your pendent. But a true Christian must be ready to lay down his life for Christ. 

Beloved, you be the true disciples of Jesus and imitate Jesus and follow His footsteps taking up me. You will be able to carry me with the strength given by God. It will be made easy and light and you will inherit eternal life and joy. So, remember me as the powerful symbol to remind you of the price paid for your redemption. So, bear the cross and wear the crown.
