Daily Devotion (English) – 18.02.2022 (God’s creation’s special)

Peter’s net

“…the kingdom of heaven is like a dragnet that was cast into the sea and gathered some of every kind” – Matthew 13:47
    
Generally, we are used for fishing. If we are not available, can fishermen have a great catch of fish? Nowadays we are made of nylon ropes and made strong to hold great number of fish with heavy weight. I keep the fish safe till the fishermen pull and draw me to the shore. Sometimes we are cast out into the deep for a good catch. We are never sluggish. We diligently keep the fish that are caught in us.

Some of the disciples of Jesus were fishermen. One day when they were washing their nets, Jesus told Simon to launch out into the deep and let down their nets for a catch. According to His word, Peter let down the net and they caught a great number of fish. They filled two boats with multitude of fish. Beloved in Christ, do you join with your church and win souls for Christ? Do you nourish the souls given to you with the word of God without letting them go astray? Do you have the burden for souls even if the path of ministry is difficult?

Are believers added to your church or dropping out? If there is no increase, it denotes that something is wrong with you. As the fishermen wash and clean their nets, you have to keep yourself clean and holy, to experience big harvest. You have to watch for their needs, threats, challenges and issues and doing what you can to meet them and address them and resolve them with God’s help and for the sake of God’s mission.

Yours is a noble task. The proclamation of the word of God is the highest mission as you are helping them to enter the kingdom of heaven instead of being cast into the bottomless pit and hell. So, it should be done with diligence as it is crucial. The fish we catch were tasty. Likewise, the men you catch and their souls are precious. Not only the ministers of God but every follower of Christ is obligated to preach the gospel and catch men for Christ.
