The lament of the tomb

“…you are like white washed tombs which indeed appear beautiful outwardly, but inside are full off dead men’s bones and all uncleanness.” – Matthew 23:27 

Someone may be a king or a pauper, but when his end comes, he has to be brought to me after the funeral procession. I become his last shelter. Those who are alive never dare to come to my place. They are so scared of death. But a certain man willingly dwelt day and night among us in my place. He was bound with chains. He cut himself with stone. He was possessed by Legion. One day he happened to meet Jesus. Jesus cast the demons out. As soon as the unclean spirits left him, he was clothed, sober and in his right mind and became a powerful testimony of God’s miracle. He proclaimed in Decapolis what great things Jesus had done for him. 

The mind and body of the man lived in the grave were unclean and afflicted. Then he was healed and everything was made clean. But Jesus calls some people as, “White washed tombs” Why are they called so? You see, I am full of dead men’s bones and all uncleanness and I am stinking. But I appear beautiful outwardly. That is why Jesus called them so. Jesus says so, looking at the people who are clothed in white and in high status in the society but leading a life of hypocrisy. Jesus said, “Woe to scribes and Pharisees.” They appear righteous outwardly but they are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness inside. 

Beloved, do not be a hypocrite. God is not pleased if you pretend to be virtuous and Godly but really do not possess virtue and Godliness. You shouldn’t be filthy and evil inward as I am. Let the dirt go with me. You imitate Jesus. Keep the word of God. Put an end to your life in the grave which is a hellish life on earth and after death the punishment of hell, eternal fire.
