Diamond Ring

“To know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with the fullness of God?” - Ephesians 3:19

A good old granny lived in a big house in all comfort in a city. She used to go for a walk, every evening. After the walk she would rest on the park bench and admire the children at play. You too like to play with your friends in the evening, don’t you? Yes, there you meet many boys and girls and you become playmates and you enjoy their company. Am I right? Similarly, many kids had made friends with the old granny as they saw her at the park daily. Among all the children Diana got closer to granny. One day Diana invited granny for her birthday party. She insisted granny to take part in her birth day celebration the next day. Granny had special affection and love towards Diana as she spoke with love to her as her own grandchild. Granny attended the party and gave her a diamond ring as her gift.

When the party was over Diana and her parents opened the gifts boxes to have a look at these. Diana saw the diamond ring presented by the granny. But she disliked it and put it away as she felt that it was old fashioned. Then Diana was invited for her friend Malar’s birthday party the next week. She presented Malar with granny’s ring. Malar’s father was a jeweler. Her father could assess the value of the diamond ring. He told Malar that Diana loved her so much and that was why she had given such a valuable gift to her. At once Malar gave a call to Diana and thanked her for her costly gift. She also stated that she was so delighted to have such a loving friend. Then only Diana remembered granny and her true love for her.  She regretted that she had lost granny’s love and her gift. It was too late for her to realize how loving granny was. How sad it is! 

God loved us so much that he sent His only son to be the propitiation for our sins. As Diana disregarded granny’s love, sometimes we too do not understand God’s unfathomable love and forget all about His sacrifice. Even if we forget, He never forgets us. God is love; give thanks to the Lord with a grateful heart for the great love of Jesus which passes knowledge.
