Vaccine
“No evil befall you, Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling.” - Psalms 91:10
John G. Lake was an American missionary. A worldwide pandemic known as bubonic plague was at its peak at that time. John G. Lake visited the hospitals and prayed laying his hands on the patients who were seriously ill with pandemic plague. Although he knew very well that the plague was highly contagious, he had no fear of getting infected by the plague. So one of the doctors called John G. Lake and asked “What have you been doing to protect yourself from the pandemic? Have you got vaccinated?” John replied that he had taken the vaccine of faith in Roman 8:2 which is, “the law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.” He stated that he believed that as long as he kept his soul in contact with the living God, His spirit was flowing into his soul and body and no germ would affect him. He believed the word of God and lived it out by faith.
In the Bible we read that the Pharaoh refused to set the Israelites free. So, God decided to send ten plagues to convince the Pharaoh. The plagues did not affect the Israelites. They survived by the virtue of their identity as God’s people. Then for the last plague the blood of lamb on the door was the only protection. Thus, God made a difference between the Egyptians and Israelites the God’s choice. People were not touched by the plagues. Thus, God rescued them with His strong hand and redeemed them with an outstretching arm. Even today He is the same with His unchanging nature and He is able to protect us from plagues and pestilences.
Beloved in Christ, we may encounter plagues and pestilences and many other deadly diseases but they cannot overcome us. We shall prevail by the vaccine of faith we had taken. This vaccine works well if we are in Christ. If Christ is not with us, the vaccine cannot work. Jesus asks us to come to Him. He expects us to repent of our secret sins. If we surrender ourselves to Him no evil will befall us and no plague will come near our dwelling. Amen.
