Unexpected obstacles
“I have learnt in whatever state I am, to be content.” – Philippians 4:11
Usually, we get annoyed easily if any hinderance comes our way in the day today life. Our personal work pre-planned may be interrupted by the new work assigned to us unexpectedly. We feel exasperated if any one knocks at the door or if the doorbell rings when we are busy cooking or writing something very important. We do not like any such disturbance when we are at work or at rest.
But Christ Jesus was never disheartened when He faced obstacles. He considered that as one of the plans of His Father for Him and accepted it. In today’s devotion Jesus said to his disciples “Come aside by yourselves to a deserted place and rest a while.” As there was big crowd around them, they did not have time to eat. So, they departed to a deserted place in the boat by themselves. But the multitude saw them departing and ran on foot from all the cities. They arrived before them and came together to Jesus; Jesus saw a great multitude and was moved with compassion. He was not upset when they pestered Him and interrupted constantly. Forgetting all about his weariness and his thought about taking rest, he began to teach them many things. Suppose we confront such situation, what would be our attitude and reaction when we are fatigue? Instead of moving with compassion, we may boil with anger.
Beloved, we must not say that no one should disturb us and ask for help and hinder our work. It is a curse to live all alone and for ourselves without letting anyone to have fellowship with us. We have to get rid of such selfish nature. Let us submit each day in the hands of God. If there is an obstacle, think that God has let such things happen. Let us listen to their problems patiently and help them out. Sometimes it may be a nuisance but let us take it as an assignment allotted to us by God.
