God’s love revealed through Christ’s suffering

“God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son” -  John 3:16
 
John F. Kennedy one of the Presidents of America was assassinated in the year 1963. In the next election, his brother Robert F. Kennedy was the presidential candidate. Having spoken to journalists and campaign workers, he left the podium and was exiting. At that time, he was shot and mortally wounded. As he lay wounded, he asked the person who comforted and helped him up, “Is everybody ok?” How compassionate he was even in his last hours! When an ordinary man of the world could show so much of love, how great and indescribable is the love of God who created us and made the sky and earth. Thus, we understand the unfathomable love of God which was manifested through the sufferings of Christ on the cross.

Just contemplate on the agony of Jesus when crucified. He was lashed with the leather strips which ended in bits of iron hooks and leads. When he was flogged, the flesh would be cut so severely. His back was like the land plowed by the plowers. They put a crown of thorns on his head and struck on the head. He suffered the apex of the agony and torture when the crown twisted with sharp thorns was put on his head. He was bruised from head to foot.

Beloved, Jesus sacrificed himself and bore our sins and curses in his body on the cross. God loved us so much that he put his son to grief. Our sufferings and distress are nothing, compared to the anguish and affliction of Christ Jesus. God demonstrates His own love towards us in Christ’s sufferings and crucifixion. Troubles may arise from our family, friends or relatives. If we endure the troubles patiently, they will get to know the love of Christ Jesus. Let us endure suffering silently and proclaim God’s love.
