Rules for Christians

“Let all things be done decently and in order.” -1 Corinthians 14:40 

Let us read and be guided by the rules of John Wesley a famous preacher and a leader of a revival movement in England.

1.    Be diligent.  Never be unemployed a moment. Never while away time; neither spends any more time at any place than is strictly necessary.

2.    Be serious. Let your motto be, “Holiness to the Lord.’’ Avoid all lightness, jesting and foolish talking.

3.    Converse sparingly and cautiously with women; particularly with young women. 

4.    Take no step towards marriage without first consulting with your mellowed brethren.

5.    Believe evil of no one; unless you see it done. Speak evil of no one; else your word would eat as doth a canker.

6.    Tell everyone what you think wrong in him plainly. Cast the fire of enmity out of your heart.

7.    Be ashamed of nothing but sin. 

8.    Be punctual. Do everything exactly at the time. Keep the rules not for wrath but for conscience sake. 

9.    You have nothing to do but to save souls. Therefore, spend and be spent in this work.

10.    It is not your business to preach so many times but to save as many souls as you can and to bring the sinners to repentance. Act in all things according to God’s will.
