Daily Devotion (English) – 10.04.2022 (Kids Special)

Do you want a gift?

“…behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give everyone according to his work.” – Revelation 22:12

Hello, children! Everyone loves music. Yes, it is a feast to our ears. Do you like to play musical instruments such as keyboard, drum and guitar? I think some of you are learning to play these instruments. Fantastic! Rajan was a little lad who longed to play the keyboard. But his parents could not afford to buy the musical instrument. Then how could he go for learning to play it?

One day Rajan went to the marketplace with his father. He was gazing at the musical instruments displayed in the musical stores with an ardent eye. The shopkeeper noticed him for some time. He asked the lad, ‘what are you thinking about so hard?’ He told him how he was longing to play the keyboard? The shopkeeper was kind enough to teach him to play the keyboard. He gave his address to Rajan saying that he could come to his house in the evenings for learning to play it. The shopkeeper agreed when Rajan said that he could sweep, mop and keep his shop tidy every morning to pay his fee for the music taught. His joy knew no bounds.

The next morning, he woke up early and went to the owner’s house to get the key and the store was kept neat and tidy. As soon as the owner entered the shop, Rajan left for school. This was going on for many days. One day quite unexpectedly, the owner reached the shop very early. He was soothed by the melodious music vibrated in the air. The owner wondered who was playing the keyboard. Only Rajan was playing the keyboard. Rajan was shocked to see his master. Rajan was moved to tears when the owner said, “I have not yet taught you music. Wait and see what punishment I am going to give you.” The owner laughed saying, “Choose your favorite keyboard. That is my loving gift to you.” Rajan’s face was radiant with the smile. Although Rajan did not have the means and opportunity to learn music he had the zeal and determination to develop his skill in music and it was done.

Dear kids, we are gifted with one talent or the other. We must strive to make use of the given talents and resolve to develop them. We should not give lame excuses such as no time and no provision. Once we begin to use the talents given by God, He will bless us to get opportunities to be experts. Ok.
