It is finished

 

“When Jesus had received the sour wine He said, “It is finished!” and bowing His head, He gave up His spirit” - John 19:30

 

The sixth word of Jesus on the cross

Long ago Noah who was walked with God found grace in the eyes of the Lord. God’s plan for Noah on the earth was fulfilled as Noah was obedient and did everything according to all that God commanded him.

 

As we know Jesus did the will of His father who sent him and finished His work. Jesus did only what He saw His father doing as the father showed Father Him all He did. First of all, Jesus came to do His Father’s will to save us and all mankind from destruction, sicknesses, sins and curses. In 1John 1:7 we read that the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us from all sins. He was wounded for our transgressions. It is written in Isaiah 53:4 that He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows. “Though He was in agony and in excruciating pain, knowing that all things were accomplished, with the whole heart He committed His spirit unto His Father’s hands.

 

Beloved, God accomplishes His mission through the pre-destined people. As Noah was obedient God could carry out His plan through Him. Thus, God blessed Noah and his sons to be fruitful and multiply.

 

But how exceedingly joyful it is to know that the entire world was saved because of the humble obedience of Christ Jesus. He made himself nothing and became obedient to the point of death of the cross. Let us examine ourselves and find out how far we are obedient. Can our family be saved because of our obedience? Can our neighbours or our relatives or the non-believers be redeemed? The redemption of mankind began when Jesus remarked, “It is finished.” Can we leave a godly generation when we breathe our last in Christ after accomplishing our responsibilities? For passing a blessed generation, let us fulfil God’s will. Shall we obey and keep the word of God?
