Plumb line 

“…Behold, I am setting a plum line in the midst of my people Israel…” - Amos 7:8

Plumb line is a small tool used by a mason to ensure the wall he is constructing is exactly straight and even. After laying three or four bricks on top of one another on the mortar bed, the mason makes sure the bricks are laid level and the wall is vertical on the upright surface. If it is not straight, he taps the bricks and sets it right into position.

Our spiritual life is compared to a building (Ephesians 2:19-22). To get this building constructed perfectly, we are in need of a plumb line. The Holy Bible gifted to us by God is the plumb line. Generally, if we look at a wall with human eyes superficially, we cannot identify the defects in it. In the same manner, our activities and action plans may look perfect in our eyes but when we compare the same with the word of God, we can make out the flaws in them. God examines the lives of the Israelites to see if they are in keeping with the word of God which is the touch stone. This plumb line is the truth and it never fails. Even the minor mistakes committed by the Israelites were pointed out by it. Their sins were bad in God’s sight and they turned aside quickly out of the way which He commanded them. So, God gave them over to their own stubborn heart, to walk in their own counsels. 

Dear all, let us all read the Holy Bible, which is our spiritual plumb line. If we desire our spiritual building to be perfect and well-pleasing to God, we need to set right the faults in our lives. If we do not get rid of those mistakes, the building will not be upright in the sight of God. We will be justified by the word of God. When we are tested what will be our plight? Let us think and correct our ways right now and put things straight.
