Never belittle anyone

“Do not lift up your horn on high; Do not speak with a stiff neck.” - Psalms 75:5

That was a tall papaya tree adorned with flowers and clusters of unripe fruits. The papaya tree undervalued a tiny plant close by and commented about its inability to bear flowers and fruits. The tiny plant was deeply hurt by the insolent remarks of the papaya tree. One day a storm broke and the papaya tree was uprooted by the strong winds and fallen to the ground. But the tiny plant was stable with its little strength. At times we show off the blessings bestowed on us and look down on others and disparage them. But we should always keep in mind that whatever blessings we receive must be used to bring glory to the name of the Lord and can be shared with others who are under privileged. It is unfair to disregard or denigrate anyone. 

In the Holy Bible we read about Peninnah who was the mother of many sons and daughters. She looked down on Hannah who had no children and belittled her. Hannah’s tearful prayer was answered by God and she bore a son and named him Samuel. God was with her son and used him for the revival of Israelites and gave him the lofty ministry of anointing the kings. But on the other hand, not even the names Penninah’s children were mentioned in the Bible. Let us not be an obstacle to the progress and blessings of our children. May be because of Penninah’s haughty disposition, her children were not used by God. God will not be able might to use our children’s talents and skills if we are arrogant and stiff necked. 

Our God resists the proud. Suppose we regret that we have nothing to boast of God can be exceedingly gracious to us and bless us. By being humble, let us be a great blessing to our descendants. We should never be deprived of our blessings by undervaluing or belittling others. Those who have been disregarded, without getting vexed, pour out your soul to the Lord. God who sees our stream of tears in secret, will reward us openly.
