“Let all bitterness…be put away from you with all malice” - Ephesians 4:

 

What is malice? Malice is the desire to cause harm to someone. It is evil done intentionally. That is attacking a person whom we detest for some reasons. Take a look at Haman plotting to destroy all the Jews just because Mordecai did not bow or pay homage to him, Jezebel deceitfully getting innocent Naboth murdered and Nabal reviling and humiliating David’s men when they sought his help. All the above mentioned deeds were the outcome of malice. Perhaps, they might have thought they were so wise to carry out their wicked plans. But we read in the book of James 3:15 that such wisdom is earthly and demoni

 

Whatever evil works done to humiliate and to bring disgrace to somebody is only malice. Writing anonymous letters, carrying tales, spreading rumors and backbiting about the reproach against one’s friend are the outcome of malice. Finding fault with others and not appreciating the good works and good nature of someone whom we despise are caused by malic

 

We read in Proverb24:9 that “The devising of foolishness is sin”. The Ziphites betrayed David to please their King Saul. Thus, doing unrighteous deeds just to win the favor of the higher authorities shows our evil nature. The Bible says that Joseph was just and he did not want to bring shame to Mary and planned to put her away secretly. Yes, the righteous men will never dare to do anything out of malic

 

We have every liberty to express our feelings. But we should not use liberty as a cloak for vice. How can we get rid of the ill feeling and the desire to harm others? It is possible only if we submit ourselves as bond servants of God (1 Peter 2:16). Shall we obey no
