Be fervent

 

“Fervent in spirit, serving the Lord.” - Romans 12:11

 

Sales of samosas is an everyday occurrence in the Northern trains. It will be amusing to see the way the vendor sells the samosas. The samosas will be ready by7’o clock in the morning. They will be tasty and hot. The samosa vendor will keep chanting “Hot samosa”. But the funniest thing is that the same samosas made in the early morning will be sold in the afternoon and evening by the vendor chanting “Hot Samosa”. Sometimes, when the remanent samosas are sold in the next morning they are described as Hot samosa. Of course, they may not be fresh and hot for us but for the samosa vendor they are always hot.

 

Apostle Paul writes many teachings for the Christians in Rome for their edification. In the 12th chapter of Romans, he writes “be fervent in spirit”. Take a close look at the intensity of his word used by him as a servant of God. Paul’s desire was to see them grow in Christ. He longs to see them fervent in spirit, diligent, sober and of the same mind towards one another. He expects them to live not for the worldly blessings but ot live in Christ and for Christ and do his ministry and glorify the name of the Lord.

 

Beloved readers, How is our mindset? The samosa vendor desires his samosas to be hot always. A man of God anticipates the people in the church to be burning in spirit. We the Christians having Christ in our lives must be passionate in spirit. We must be the role models for the others in our speech, thought and deed. We should never lose heart or grow weary and feel depressed when we encounter troubles. The Lord God is as loving as He was when he chose us as His children. So let us stand steadfast for Christ. Let us strive and run ahead and be prompt in action.
