“He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the Lord; and that which he hath given will he pay him again.” - Proverbs 19:17
Hai friends! How are you? Are you all keeping fine? Ok. I am ready to narrate the story. Are you ready to listen to it? Yes.
Sweety was a cute little girl. Having done her homework, she was eagerly waiting for the arrival of her daddy. Do you know why? Yes, she asked her dad to get some apples for her. Sweety liked apples very much. How many of you like apples? Just raise your hands. Ok. Sweety’s daddy was very busy at his office that day and when he was returning, he forgot all about purchasing apples for his daughter. He came past the fruit market. But he did not want to go home without the apples. He looked around to see if any fruit shop could be found. At last, his eyes fell on the old lady selling apples by the roadside. The granny was sad as there was no demand for the apples that day and she could not earn enough that day. Sweety’s father asked the cost of the apples. The old lady said that it was 200 rupees per kg. Her father bargained and asked it for 180 rupees. The old lady agreed and weighed and gave him the apples. But Sweety’s father paid only 160 rupees. Although it was unfair, he was so happy that he had bought the apples at a low cost.
The next week, Sweety’s father went to the big fruit shop and asked for the price. It was 250 rupees. There he could not bargain or pay less. So, he left the shop without buying apples. He came to the old lady who was at the roadside. He saw her granddaughter who was blind sitting beside her. He came to know that they sold apples and earned their living. On hearing their misery, Sweety’s father felt so bad and he was moved with pity. That forty rupees was not a matter to Sweety’s father. But for the old lady it was her livelihood. So, he made up his mind not to bargain to anyone who was running small shops, stores and street vendors. Moreover, he decided to buy apples only from granny. He introduced the old lady to his friends and relatives. The old lady was exceedingly happy. Dear kids, we should not cheat others. We must show compassion to the poor and needy and help them out. The Bible says whatever we do for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of God’s, we do for God. Will you do it?
