Daily Devotion (English) – 30.01.2021

Where do you run? 

“Enter by the narrow gate…and there are few who find it” – Matthew 7:13,14 

In our journey of life, we have been running very fast. Which is our destination? What is our goal? Students run after educational qualification, the youth after married life, the middle aged after designation, money and family and the old aged to meet their end not knowing what to do, where to go and thus counting down the days. To sum up, all the runners are heading towards the grave. Anyhow when the race is over, everyone will be rewarded with either victory or defeat. As a man crosses the river to reach the other side of the river, we have to cross the valley of death to receive eternal life or everlasting damnation.

We need not perform anything extra special to gain entry into hell the place of everlasting fire. If we just run the race as we like we will be eligible for it. But to inherit the kingdom of heaven and the everlasting life we have to obtain the permit card in this world itself. The salvation graciously given to us by Christ Jesus is the permit card. He establishes us till the end, leads us daily towards the salvation of our souls, sanctifies and prepares us for the glorious heavenly life. If we meet our end unprepared, we will be perplexed in the day of judgment of our Lord Jesus Christ. No more opportunity will be available for repentance, confession or acceptance even if pleaded hard with God. We will be thrown into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels until the day of judgment.

Beloved sisters and brothers, we are given the opportunity to choose our way of life after death. Which way is yours? Is that the heavenly way with straight gate and narrow way but filled with love, joy and peace? or the way of hell with wide gate and broad way full of weeping and gnashing of teeth? If you have chosen the wrong path, you change your mind and come back to the path of salvation. We can step out of sinful way and walk along the holy way till we are alive. The Holy Spirit helps us head towards the path of righteousness and eternal life.
