Blessing in giving 

“…do good to those who hate you…” – Matthew 5:44

Hei, Kutties, how are you? Are you all happy? Shall we listen to the story of three friends for our devotion? 

Ravi, Stephen and Joseph were classmates as well as friends. Ravi had to grow more in the love of God. He looked down on Joseph as he was poor. But Stephen was good and God-fearing. He often spoke to Ravi about the love of Jesus. He took him to Sunday class. But as he was not interested, there were no sustained changes in him. Prayerful Joseph was from a poor family but a talented young artist. One day Ravi’s father fell ill and was taken to the hospital. The doctor recommended surgery for his condition. Joseph was kind – hearted. So, he thought of helping his friend’s father. 

The next day Joseph participated in the National Level Painting Competition. Later when the results were announced, Joseph’s joy knew no bounds. He was the winner for his age group. He was awarded a lump sum of money as cash award. He thanked God for his success. Can you guess what Joseph did with the cash award? He asked his mother if he could lend a helping hand to Ravi’s father who was in need of money for his operation. With his mother’s permission, he gave the sum of money to Ravi saying that the gift was given to him by Jesus. Ravi was overwhelmed by his friend’s love and kindness. He held Joseph’s hand tightly and asked for forgiveness with tears. The surgery went well and he got well soon. Though Joseph was in poverty, he had a rich heart to help others. Do you know how he was blessed and exalted by Jesus? Being amazed at the exquisite piece of art by Joseph, all the judges unanimously selected Joseph’s art work for the drawing notebook cover image.
